Dans ce premier volet d\u2019analyse en deux parties que nous vous proposons, Albrecht Tribukait, directeur de Silent-Power&nbsp;SA, vous pr\u00e9sente les avantages du e-m\u00e9thanol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>par Albrecht Tribukait<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c04783412e\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>La transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique n\u2019est pas un probl\u00e8me de connaissances mais un probl\u00e8me syst\u00e9mique<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019Europe, tout comme la Suisse, a investi des milliards dans le d\u00e9veloppement des \u00e9nergies renouvelables. Or, une part croissante de cette \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est brid\u00e9e ou export\u00e9e \u00e0 des prix n\u00e9gatifs parce que la production, le stockage et l\u2019utilisation ne sont pas coordonn\u00e9s dans le temps. La r\u00e9ussite de la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique n\u2019est donc pas conditionn\u00e9e \u00e0 la puissance install\u00e9e, mais d\u00e9pend de la capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 planifier la fourniture de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, \u00e0 garantir la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l\u2019approvisionnement et \u00e0 limiter les co\u00fbts totaux du syst\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trois crit\u00e8res sont d\u00e9cisifs \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard&nbsp;: la planification, la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 d\u2019approvisionnement et la rentabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c0478342b7\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, un objectif strat\u00e9gique qui n\u2019est toutefois pas un agent \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique universel<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne vert est indispensable pour les applications qu\u2019il n\u2019est pas possible d\u2019\u00e9lectrifier directement, dans l&rsquo;industrie et la chimie notamment. Employ\u00e9 directement l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il est produit, il peut \u00eatre consomm\u00e9 pratiquement sans produire d\u2019\u00e9missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En tant que vecteur de stockage, de transport et de distribution, l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne pose toutefois des contraintes physiques, au nombre desquelles figurent une densit\u00e9 volum\u00e9trique faible de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, un besoin \u00e9lev\u00e9 en \u00e9nergie pour sa compression et sa liqu\u00e9faction et une infrastructure complexe. La strat\u00e9gie suisse en mati\u00e8re d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne reconna\u00eet \u00e9galement son effet de serre indirect, qu\u2019elle inclut dans son appr\u00e9ciation. Cet effet de serre ne s\u2019oppose pas \u00e0 l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne en lui-m\u00eame mais \u00e0 son emploi non discrimin\u00e9 comme agent \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique universel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c0478343ee\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>R\u00e9alit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 exc\u00e9dentaire : pertes syst\u00e9miques actuelles<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En raison du d\u00e9veloppement des \u00e9nergies renouvelables, l\u2019Europe conna\u00eet de plus en plus fr\u00e9quemment des exc\u00e9dents structurels d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9. Cette \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 est aujourd\u2019hui brid\u00e9e ou export\u00e9e \u00e0 des prix n\u00e9gatifs. En d&rsquo;autres termes, dans le second cas, le consommateur en vient \u00e0 payer pour qu\u2019elle soit livr\u00e9e. Ce probl\u00e8me n\u2019est pas transitoire, il est une cons\u00e9quence syst\u00e9mique du fait qu\u2019une part fortement croissante de la production conna\u00eet des fluctuations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Simultan\u00e9ment, on observe la croissance d\u2019une deuxi\u00e8me ressource, le CO\u2082 non fossile \u00e9mis par des sources biog\u00e8nes et industrielles. Face \u00e0 des prix de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 brid\u00e9s, voire n\u00e9gatifs, et compte tenu de la disponibilit\u00e9 du CO\u2082, le Power-to-X rev\u00eat toute sa pertinence \u00e9conomique en Europe, surtout pour le e-m\u00e9thanol. En effet, il s&rsquo;agit ici non pas de produire un besoin suppl\u00e9mentaire, mais de valoriser une perte syst\u00e9mique existante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c047834500\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>Le e-m\u00e9thanol, un agent \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique syst\u00e9mique robuste<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Liquide dans des conditions ambiantes, le m\u00e9thanol peut \u00eatre stock\u00e9 pour de longues p\u00e9riodes et il peut \u00eatre transport\u00e9 au moyen de l\u2019infrastructure existante. Compte tenu de la densit\u00e9 volum\u00e9trique de son \u00e9nergie, de 15,8&nbsp;MJ par litre environ, il dispose d\u2019une excellente capacit\u00e9 de stockage chimique \u00e0 long terme et permet que la production et la consommation soient dissoci\u00e9es dans le temps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lorsqu\u2019il est appliqu\u00e9 \u00e0 la production coupl\u00e9e d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et de chaleur notamment, le e-m\u00e9thanol pr\u00e9sente une grande efficacit\u00e9 syst\u00e9matique&nbsp;: les rendements totaux peuvent atteindre 90&nbsp;%. En Suisse, cette application est d\u00e9j\u00e0 mise en \u0153uvre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle industrielle, par les services industriels zougois WWZ et par la confiserie Spr\u00fcngli \u00e0 Dietikon (ZH) notamment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toxique, le m\u00e9thanol est soumis \u00e0 des r\u00e8gles de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 claires, comme tous les agents \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques liquides. Toutefois, dans son emploi concret \u00e0 des fins \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques, il pr\u00e9sente une toxicit\u00e9 faible compar\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019essence et au diesel&nbsp;: il n\u2019est ni carcinog\u00e8ne ni persistant, il ne cause ni rouille, ni poussi\u00e8res fines ni hydrocarbures polycycliques aromatiques. Il repr\u00e9sente un danger important pour la sant\u00e9 s\u2019il est absorb\u00e9 par voie orale&nbsp;; employ\u00e9 correctement en tant qu\u2019agent \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, il pr\u00e9sente un risque nettement plus r\u00e9duit en termes de sant\u00e9 et d\u2019environnement que l\u2019essence et le diesel, ces deux carburants aujourd\u2019hui largement utilis\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c04783464d\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>Permettre le transport de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne <\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le e-m\u00e9thanol peut s\u2019employer en tant que liquide organique pour transporter l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne (\u00ab&nbsp;Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier LOHC&nbsp;\u00bb)&nbsp;: il se lie chimiquement \u00e0 l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne. L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est transport\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tat liquide et s\u2019il le faut, il est \u00e0 nouveau rendu disponible. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, le m\u00e9thanol est le vecteur le plus avantageux et le plus pratique de l&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, pour le transport et pour le stockage saisonnier notamment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c047834737\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>Une v\u00e9rification \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9preuve de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 s\u2019impose pour la politique<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans son rapport sp\u00e9cial 11\/2024, la Cour des comptes europ\u00e9enne a jug\u00e9 la politique de l\u2019UE en mati\u00e8re d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne renouvelable avec une franchise inhabituelle&nbsp;: elle observe que la Commission a fix\u00e9 des objectifs irr\u00e9alistes en mati\u00e8re de production et d\u2019importation d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne, et que l\u2019UE ne suit pas une voie lui permettant de les atteindre. Elle constate que les objectifs en mati\u00e8re d\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne renouvelable ne reposent pas sur des analyses rigoureuses mais qu\u2019ils sont dict\u00e9s par une volont\u00e9 politique et juge peu probable qu\u2019ils puissent \u00eatre atteints \u00e0 l\u2019horizon 2030. La Cour demande express\u00e9ment qu\u2019une v\u00e9rification \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9preuve de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 soit op\u00e9r\u00e9e et que des choix strat\u00e9giques soient r\u00e9alis\u00e9s en \u00e9vitant de nouvelles d\u00e9pendances strat\u00e9giques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c04783480d\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>Cons\u00e9quences pour la Suisse : SWEET &#8211; EDGE et s\u00e9curit\u00e9 d\u2019approvisionnement<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Selon le rapport SWEET &#8211; EDGE&nbsp;II, 45&nbsp;TWh d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 renouvelable devront \u00eatre disponibles \u00e0 l\u2019horizon&nbsp;2050. Ces chiffres signalent la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019un d\u00e9veloppement massif de l\u2019\u00e9olien et du photovolta\u00efque, qui implique \u00e0 son tour une hausse des co\u00fbts du r\u00e9seau, une augmentation des charges syst\u00e9miques et une augmentation des conflits li\u00e9s \u00e0 leur acceptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Axpo \u00e9voque aussi une possible p\u00e9nurie dans l\u2019approvisionnement pouvant d\u00e9passer 50&nbsp;TWh. Il vaut la peine de mentionner qu\u2019Axpo pr\u00e9voit une centrale de r\u00e9serve fonctionnant avec une turbine \u00e0 gaz compatible avec le e-m\u00e9thanol. Le e-m\u00e9thanol est donc employ\u00e9 explicitement comme technologie de transition permettant d\u2019assurer la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de notre approvisionnement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n                    <div id=\"r6a3c047834912\" class=\"default-single-post-title \">\n                <h4>Que faut-il donc privil\u00e9gier ?<\/h4>\n            <\/div>\n        \n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Factuellement, la bonne r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 cette question consiste \u00e0 dire qu\u2019il faut privil\u00e9gier les deux agents, pourvu que chacun remplisse le r\u00f4le qui lui revient. L\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne est un objectif strat\u00e9gique l\u00e0 o\u00f9 il n\u2019existe pas d\u2019autre mati\u00e8re.
